October saw thousands of agricultural buyers and sellers from five continents converging at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur to gain leverage on the strategic platform of agriculture. Graced by the presence of Minister for Agriculture & Agro-Based Industries, YB Dato’ Haji Noh Omar and  Deputy Minister for Plantation Industries & Commodities, Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin, the event was noted to be a flagship regional event for the global agricultural industry.

Among the many prominent companies trading in agriculture and related technologies exhibiting at the prestigious event, Myagri® took part in exhibiting our range of services and products which features pioneering technology for integrated and sustainable agricultural management.

At a star-studded event attended by many local industry giants from various sectors, MyAgri® Group of Companies was honoured at the inaugural ‘Malaysian Independence Awards 1957’ with the ‘Star Company’ award for its role in being a pioneer in providing more efficient, effective and environmentally friendly solutions to challenges faced by the management of agriculture and the environment.

Organised by the Selangor Petaling Business & Industry Association, the prestigious ‘Malaysia Independence Award 1957’ recognised companies and individuals who demonstrate excellence and dedication in their various sectors. The awards were given out by Guest of Honour , Deputy Finance Minister, Dato’ Wira Chor Chee Heong at the Awards Ceremony and Dinner held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa. MyAgri® was the only agro-biotechnology company and only BioNexus-status Company thus awarded.

International conference and exhibition BioMalaysia 2009, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on the 17^th to 19^th of November 2009 was a fruitful event for MyAgri® as the company set-up an exhibition booth during the 3-day event.

The focus of the booth exhibit was the scale model of MyAgri®’s Bio-Organic Program in Gambang, Pahang, where waste from oil palm plantations in the form of empty fruit bunches and extraction waste from the palm oil plants are being composted into peat mulch and then formulated as a bio-organic solution for agricultural use. Participants were generally intrigued by the innovative technique which allows for greater sustainability in agricultural practices as waste from oil palm is recycled into nutrients back to the land. 

The BioMalaysia 2009 Dinner and Bio-Inno Awards ceremony, on the 18^th of November, saw MyAgri® receiving two Gold Awards for its innovations of TRICHOgold® and Metaxorb™. The awards, presented by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Ongkili were received by Group Managing Director, Pn. Hayati Md Taib. 

TRICHOgold® is a plant defense booster which utilizes Trichoderma sp., a fungal antagonist and mycoparasite on other parasitic fungi. Through the interactions of TRICHOgold, parasitic fungi like Fusarium sp., Verticulum sp., which causes wilt among plants, are defended against by the Trichoderma sp., ensuring the healthy growth of plants without resorting to chemical pesticides which are harmful to the environment; Metaxorb™ is an innovative bio-control insecticide which utilizes the host specific fungi, Metarrhizium anisopilae to control rhinoceros beetle in oil palm plantations. The host-specific fungi attacks the rhinoceros beetle at both the larvae stagel and the adult stage by invading the insects’ body causing death.

The Malaysian International Commodity Conference & Showcase (MICCOS 2009) themed Commodity as an Industry was held during the 13^th to 16^th of August 2009 and was host to many players of the commodities industry and related industries. Myagri® participated in the premier event showcasing commodities-related companies which was held at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). The event was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

MyAgri®’s exhibition booth, which showcased our variety of biological tools and services for sustainable agricultural management was well-received among participants, especially those in the palm oil sector who were interested in the potential of Myagri®’s Bio-organic program in recycling oil palm waste.

MyAgri® has received international recognition for its dedication to the commercial development of biological solutions for agricultural and ecological management as it received the 38^th International Award for Commercial Prestige (New Millenium Award) awarded by the Trade Leaders’ Club and Editorial OFICE recently. The awards ceremony, held in Madrid, Spain on the 20^th of July 2009, was attended by various luminaries and corporate figures from across the globe.

Representing MyAgri at the awards was Group Managing Director, Pn Hayati Md Taib and Director Pn Zubaidah Ilias to receive the awards recognizing commercial excellence, presented by President of the Trade Leaders’ Club, Arsenio Pardo Rodriguez.
